Ehlena Fry and her service dog are quite the dynamic duo. But this story isn’t just about a girl and her service dog.

Ehlena Fry was born with cerebral palsy, hindering her motor functions. Her parents, determined to not let anything hold Ehlena back, raised $13,000 for the perfect service dog, with the hopes that she could learn to be more independent without special education services.

To Ehlena’s parent’s surprise, her school would not allow the dog into the school. The school’s legal position stating “Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the district was already paying for an aide to help Ehlena physically in school and that the dog was unnecessary.”
